20 Confessions
1. I HATE the show
Sex in the City. If I had to choose
Sex in the City or
Barney, I'd choose
Barney.
2. I hate the show
Barney. I know that's not really a confession, but it relates to #1.
3. I have a crush on Alton Brown from the show
Feasting on Asphalt on the Food network. I do not have a crush on Alton Brown from
Good Eats. I just have friendship feelings for Alton Brown on
Iron Chef America. For those of you who do not watch these shows it is the same person on all three.
4. I like the movie
Beaches.
5. I still cry at the end.
6. Sometimes I want another baby (then the kids wake up from their nap).
7. I wonder if my kids annoy other people like their kids annoy me.
8. I am usually annoyed most by kids ages 8-12. I'm not sure why.
9. I'm worried about the time when my kids hit this age group.
10. I love gross medical shows. The last one I watched was about a baby that was born without skin on 30% of his body.
11. Spit and phylum make me want to throw up. I hate even hearing someone clearing their throat. Baby spit up I'm okay with.
12. I'm constantly thinking about worst case scenario (someone breaking into my house while I'm upstairs sleeping, how would I get the kids from across the hall and out of the house) and what if(what if something happened to me and Patrick had to take care of the kids all by himself, big things he can handle, but he doesn't know the little things, like when to cut their nails).
13. Since I'm a huge procrastinator, I have yet to follow any of my plans or to tell Patrick when to cut their nails.
14. I really hate a lot of the "classic" must love/see movies.
15. I find it shocking that people are really shocked when they find out that I hate blue cheese.
16. I sometimes wonder if I'm too hard on my kids. I once put Isabella in a time out AT a store. On the bright side, Isabella now listens very well in stores.
17. I often wonder if parenting magazines and books are written by people with kids.
18. I love music, but I couldn't tell you who sings what song in most cases. Did Metallica or Barry White sing that song?
19. I can truthfully say that I can list on one hand (less now that I've had kids) the number of things I like about my body.
20. I love hearing how crappy the lives of people I grew up with are, well the ones I didn't like anyway.
Weekend
In two words: Fun and Relaxing!
A little R&R
Leaving today at 4:00 for Lake Cumberland. Be back Sunday!
Open house
I'm having a MaryKay open house on Saturday September 16 from 2-4:30. Gail is bringing all her new stuff (this is the Holiday catalog). We will not be doing a normal class, but if you know someone that wants to try the skin care and can come around 1:30 she will be able to show them how it works. Bring friends!
My Day
And I mean MY day. Patrick watched the kids while I went and had my hair done and then went to my sisters for her MaryKay party and dinner. I left at 12:30 and didn't get home until 10:30. This is the longest that I have been w/o my kids since Patton was born (12/30/04). They watched cartoons, played in the sprinkler, ate some finger paint (only Patton). I think they had a good day. Patton greeted me with a BIG hug today, I think he missed me. :)
My side and cheeks still hurt from laughing so much yesterday. I can't remember the last time I laughed as much as I did yesterday. It started with getting my hair done, my best friend Denise does my hair and my neighbor Linda who is also a really good friend just happened to be getting her hair done too. We spent a lot of the time laughing and annoying the other clients. Denise thought it would be funny to put my hair into devil horns after she put the color in and for some reason I let her.
I can not say what we laughed about at my sisters party (mostly because we laughed at every thing and that would take too long to write out. I can say that 80% of it was about sex). All I know is that we regressed at least 10 years. That happens a lot when we get together. Mindy made great burgers (I want that secret spice!) and corn on the grill. After dinner Mom and Chrystal left and I got to talk with Mindy for a while, something that I don't get to do without very often. I think it was my favorite part of the day (I'm not just saying that because she reads my blog). It was nice to have a day of adult (just plain grown up and R-rated) conversations. I feel human again.
Attack of the non-killer tomatoes
What can I do with A LOT of tomatoes? Everyone keeps bringing me tomatoes and now I'm over run with them. I have almost every shape and size of them too. Isabella said that I should make a pie.
Isabellaism
Isabella decided that her stuffed duck was a girl and it needed a bow. Being the wonderful mother that I am I made Quackers a little pink bow and sewed it on. After giving the duck back to Isabella she happily said, "Now we'll have to name it Boner".
Too #@?$# Hot!!
During winter I get stuck in the house with two stir crazy kids and I would wish for warmer weather. This is not what I meant. They keep asking to go outside but it's just too hot. When I do let them go out they can only stand it for five minutes (I'm done after about 30 seconds). I'm running out of inside things to do with them.
You know it's hot when your kids ask to play in the sprinkler and you tell them it's too hot, wait until it cools off this evening and then you can play out there.
Since it's not getting cool at night it's way too hot to go any where in our van, even with the hillbilly fan. I checked yesterday and when we were driving at 10:30 AM it was over 80 degrees in my car. God forbid we need to go any where in the afternoon. I hope next week is cooler, the kids have 3:00 checkups on Wednesday.
FYI- PMS and a heat wave do not mix!
